Bison Burger FAIL! :(

Have you ever tried a BISON burger?? If you have please COMMENT below on how you like BISON compared to regular beef or turkey patties. After starving a whole day while at a TARTE Cosmetics event with my girl Stephanie @makeupl0verr, we literally sat in the car for about an hour trying to figure out where to eat in DTLA just so we wouldn't have to sit in traffic. #lastereotypes LOL! This was my first time trying BISON thanks to a DINE LA menu. So here goes another little review of my experience at PUBLIC SCHOOL 213 in Downtown LA. Public School 213

Service: ★★★★☆

Food: ★★☆☆☆

ALL in ALL: ★★★☆☆

PS213 is a gastropub with several locations that only serves craft beer, although my girl and I didn't take a sip for Happy Hour, we definitely still enjoyed quality time catching up in this hip spot. They have dart and shuffle boards. The seating and atmosphere is so welcoming, reminding us of what it was like back in school where Recess and Lunch were the best parts of our day. Service was great and our waitress was very kind. Unfortunately, the main entrèe was a FAIL, so hopefully not all bison burgers are made that way. If they are, then please school me in the comments below & I'll be back PS213 for a rematch on that burger and dessert to shoot out more stars.

Appetizers

BROWN BAG FRIES Mustard bbq sauce, Sriracha ketchup - i mean you can never go wrong with fries or at least I have yet to come across bad fries. Cooked perfectly! (Ordered outside of DINE LA menu)*

CRISPY NAKED WINGS Buffalo Ranch, Hot Wing Sauce - i usually love getting wings like this where it's plain with no sauce that way I have control over how much sauce it gets dipped in. Definitely crisp to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. (Ordered outside of DINE LA menu)*

BACON CHEDDAR TOTS Sriracha Ketchup - these definitely didn't look like your frozen in a bag tots, home made yummy bites with not too much cheese and bacon in each tot. They are pretty big in size and the Sriracha Ketchup is soo yummy, reminds me of Spicy Filipino Banana Ketchup. (If you don't know, now you know) LOL! =P

KALE SALAD - I would like to say that the little fishies on top were anchovies, not something I'd prefer on my salad, but maybe if I had some rice and soy sauce with that fish I'd have eaten it. LOL! Aside from that, salad was good and straight to the point, to be more specific, this was a Kale Caesar.

Entrèes

BBQ BISON BURGER Grass fed, whiskey bbq sauce, emmental, pepper bacon mushroom topping -  I ordered it cooked to a medium NO bbq sauce with slaw as the side but got fries instead and with bbq sauce, but definitely not going to complain about them fries As the burger arrives, it looks tasty and I couldn't wait to take a bite. I've seen some yummy pictures of what this burger probably should look like, mine definitely was a mess. Unfortunately as soon as I picked it up to bite it the patty totally fell apart, the cheese just slid off, the bacon was way undercooked, and honestly this was so hard to eat. I tried it with a fork and as for the taste of the bison patty, I was surprised to have liked it. Just disappointed that my burger wasn't even together enough to even eat with a fork. I barely ate a quarter of it, sorry but I'd have to take this down as a burger fail. The waitress did ask me if I wanted something else but my appetite was ruined. Would love to give it another go eventually to shoot some more stars over.

Dessert

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Macerated Strawberries, Whipped Cream, Mint - Sadly, I didn't receive my dessert. Definitely a bummer on top of the burger fail. Guess I'll have to leave this blank until I get to taste it.

Dine LA... "say what?!"

DINE LA makes my life just a tad bit easier when it comes to deciding where to eat. If you haven't heard of it yet, it's an LA experience where for two weeks (July 14-28), restaurants create a preset menu for a great price. The two weeks definitely isn't enough time to try the plenty of places that are participating sooo i'd say... plan accordingly. I'm all about this, because it gives me an opportunity to try new restaurants without going broke per se. It lets me decide whether or not I would come back for more. Here is a little review of my first experience this year. If you have any questions or any restaurants you recommend, please feel free to comment below!! I would definitely go back for more.  it's a simple yet classy venue best for date night. Service was impeccable, very attentive all around from the moment I stepped in. My favorite dish of the night was the THIRD COURSE... so keep reading and check it out. Oh.. and if you start to get hungry and want to try this place out,...

FIRST COURSE

Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna - this had just the right ratio for each of the ingredients, only thing I could say is I want a spicier jalapeño.

Spicy Seared Albacore Crispy Onion, Ponzu - too much sauce! lol! no really, this was a good appetizer, i love crispy onions. I just couldn't finish it all because I wanted to make sure I had room for my filet.

SECOND COURSE

Kiiro Roll Albacore, Cucumber, Tempura Flakes with Yellowtail, Avocado & Jalapeño Aioli - This was an OK roll, it was just missing something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

THIRD COURSE

Peppercorn Filet Mignon Toban Yaki Shishito Potato Mash - OMG!!  my mouth is watering just writing this review... MUST TRY!!! this dish was FIRE! Literally after almost every bite I was like, "mmm... FIRE!" lol! It came out sizzling hot, meat was cooked to perfection,  (Medium is how I like my steak) the mash with the garnish on top added the perfect blend to pull this whole dish together. I devoured this in minutes, didn't leave a bite behind, honestly wish I had more.

DESSERT

Créme Brulee - Loved! It wasn't too sweet which made it even lovelier to eat and savor without being overkill.

Mochi - This was a poppyseed mochi, which to me, didn't seem to have much of a taste to it. Probably wouldn't order this again
